Beagle Mix

Don't make the same mistakes I made with my Beagle!

Because beagles are so tiny and cute, it is difficult to think that someone could not love this adorable breed. This may be why people try to create new mixed breeds using a beagle as one half of the equation. In the past, any canine that was not a full blooded breed was seen to be a mutt. Nowadays, however, these mutts tend to be considered designer dogs and many of them are in high demand with both celebrities and the general public.

It’s vital to remember that a beagle mix is likely to possess physical characteristics as well as personality traits of the beagle and the second breed that are mixed with. Therefore, if any of these mixed pups are of interest to you, be sure to research the personalities of both breeds so you can somewhat understand what to expect from the new breed. With that said, the following is a list of some of the popular breeds that include a beagle.

-Puggle – Mix between beagle and pug

-Poogle – Combination of poodle and beagle

-Cheagle – Cross between beagle and Chihuahua

-Peabull – Mix of American bulldog and beagle

-Speagle – A beagle bred with an English toy spaniel

-Raggle – Mix between a beagle and rat terrior

-Doxle – Combination of beagle and dachshund

Beagles have also be bred with other breeds, such as hounds, Labs, Corgis and many other types. Some of the mixes may be because the breeds were not properly supervised or spayed and neutered, many of these dogs were bred together on purpose. Some people had the idea of creating an entirely new breed, while others were looking to make bank in the designer breed market. Others simply decided to mix two breeds to see the end result.

Most people that sell beagle mixes by calling them designer dogs will price them just as much, if not higher, than a purebred beagle whose genealogy can be verified through many generations. Some make claims that they used the best dogs of their breeds to create the mix, so they can charge more. The reality is that a mixed breed is still a mixed breed. No matter how superior their parents are, they should never be considered more valuable than a full-blooded beagle. These new breeds are not recognized by national kennel clubs.

It’s possible that some of these mixed breeds will become a new breed, but for now they are just mixed bred animals or mutts. It is still mixed no matter if it is labeled as a designer dog or not.

That doesn’t necessarily mean that a mixed beagle cannot be a good pet. Many crossbreeds are adopted out and go on to make great, affectionate pets for the families that take them into their homes. It is important that you remember there are no guidelines regarding looks or personality when dealing with a dog from two different breeds. Most mixes will have a combination or the best and worst qualities of the two breeds used to create the new animal. Therefore, you will want to be prepared to accept your pet when you adopted a mixed beagle.
